Consultation Preparation

What to Have Ready for Your Consultation

To ensure the independent licensed electrical contractor can provide an accurate, itemized proposal quickly, having the following information ready is extremely helpful:

1. Main Electrical Service Rating

Check the main breaker at the top or bottom of your electrical panel. Note whether it indicates 100A, 150A, or 200A. This determines whether your panel has spare capacity for a 50A or 60A breaker.

2. Distance from Panel to Parking Bay

Estimate the physical distance between your electrical panel and your preferred charger mounting location. Short runs (under 15 feet) are standard; runs over 30 feet require additional conduit and heavy copper wiring.

3. Vehicle Model & Delivery Date

Knowing your vehicle model helps the electrician determine optimal charging amperage (32A, 40A, or 48A) and match charging connectors (NACS vs. J1772) to your daily commute requirements.

How quickly will an independent electrician contact me?
During regular business hours (Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM EST), referred licensed electrical contractors typically reach out within 15 to 45 minutes to review your project scope and schedule an estimate.
Is an on-site physical visit required to receive an installation estimate?
Many straightforward garage installations can be estimated virtually if you provide clear photos of your electrical panel interior, breaker label directory, and desired charger wall location. Complex conduit runs or panel upgrades typically receive a dedicated on-site walk-through.
